He was predeceased by: his parents, Grace Carruthers and Elliott Carruthers; and his mother-in-law Rita Zipfel. He is survived by: his wife Priscilla of Ripley; his children, Jaime Lee (Brent), Melanie (Jordan) and Cass (Shannon); his siblings, Karen Martyn (Doug), Garry and Boyd (Kathy); his father-in-law Frank Zipfel; and his sisters-in-law, Debbie Stanley (Art) and Shanda Hewitson (Mike).
