We are sad to announce that on July 3, 2023, at the age of 94, Rita Downes of Queenston, Ontario passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband Joseph Downes; her son Michael Downes; and her siblings, Bernard Glynn (Catherine), Doreen Meischeid (Joseph) and Enid Hildebrandt (Clayton).

She is survived by: her daughters, Elizabeth MacFarland (Patrick) and Cathy Downes (Daniel Bellemare); and her grandchildren, Meghan MacFarland (Greg McFarland), Matthew MacFarland (Cara Lewis), Joseph Downes and Sarah Downes (Christopher Jordan-Stevens). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Those wishing to make a donation may wish to consider the Humane Society or The Alzheimer Society of Canada.
