He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Jacqueline "Jackie" (Byrd); his son Geoffrey Jakes; and his sisters, Sylvia and Jean. He is survived by: his son Michael Jakes; his grandchildren, Nicole Guerin (Fred), James Jakes, Kyle Jakes (Marleenia) and Oneida Crawford; his great grandchildren, Hailey, Caleb Guerin, Preston, Ceynna, Kursten, Ava, Mikila and Desare Jakes; and his brother Gardiner Jakes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A masonic service was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 1:30 PM at 28 Masonic Lodge, Kemptville. Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Irvine Funeral Home & Chapel (4 James St E, Brockville, ON K6V1J9). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, February 12th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
