He is survived by: his wife Darlene Otet of Holbein, SK; his children, Jasmin of Saskatoon, SK, Catrina and Shaunacy of Ontario; his granddaughter Lois of Ontario; his siblings, Ionel, Maria and Jon; and his siblings-in-law, Rodney Bates (Olga), Colin Bates (Marilyn), Jesse Bates (Melody), Barry Bates, Derek Bates (Cathy), Maureen Bates (Zolton) and Deb Kotyk.

In lieu of tributes, memorial donations may be made in memory of Aurel to the choice of the donor.
