He was predeceased by: his father James Bates. He is survived by: his mother Helen Bates; his children, Amanda, Scott Harper (Sunderland) and Jennifer Bates (Oshawa); his grandchildren, Lennox, Keegan Bates, Taylor and Finley Harper; and his sisters, Marlene Leger and Debbie Conforti. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
