She was predeceased by: her husband Robert "Bob" Nelson; her parents, James Varty and Edith Varty (Tharby); her sisters, Lillian, Stella Varty and Ruth Moffatt; her sister-in-law Mae Varty; and her brother George (Barbara Varty).

She is survived by: her children, Linda Menon of Edmonton and Douglas Greenley (Charity Shaver) of Oyen; her stepchildren, Lorrie (Jerome Diotte) of Oshawa, Shelly (Rick MacFarlane) of Brooklin and Rudi Nelson (Theresa) of Oshawa; and her siblings, Ross (Irene Varty) of Oshawa, Shirley (Ken Fahey) of Laval, QC, Gordon (Marion) of Havelock and Fred (Barbara) of Lake Cordova. She is also survived by Loving grandmother to her 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, her many nieces and nephews as well as her friends.
