He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Struthers and Douglas Struthers; and his son Michael of Melbourne. He is survived by: his wife Barbara (Lynn); his sister Margaret Rout of Mississauga; his brother-in-law Charles of Jocas; his stepchildren, Chris Lynn (Katie Griffin) and Jordan Lynn (Jessica Bongard); and his brother-in-law Michael (Diane).

He was well liked and known for his friendly manner (everything was made more difficult when Covid restricted their lives).

Remembrance may be made in Robert's name to the Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation, Cobourg, Ontario.
