He was predeceased by: his brother Bill Matiyek; and his parents, Doris Matiyek and Metro Matiyek. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Graham; his children, Donna Schaefer (Larry) and Paul Matiyek (Monica); his grandchildren, Tyson and Taylor Usborne; and his siblings, Margaret (Brian Wice), Marlene Matiyek, Mitchell Matiyek (Brenda), Debbie (Paul Clark) and Michael Matiyek (Laurie).
