He was predeceased by: his father Adrian Bates of Sydney River; his brothers, Kenny and Vincie; and his former wife Lynn MacNeil. He is survived by: his mother Florence Bates; his children, Julie-Ann (Jordan Hatt), Jamie (Iqmatullah Khulmi), Catherine (Rony Chateauvert), Bobby, Ryan (Sabrina Gimenez) and Brandon; his grandchildren, Carissa, Makhia, Kali, Shai, Kaedon, Julianna, Sophia and Joaquin; his great grandchild Kehnen; his siblings, Linda Costello (Kevin), Karen LeLievre (Leonard), Julie LeLievre (Terry), Priscella Matheson (James), Bernie (Gail), Paul (Pearl) and Brian; and his sister-in-law Jean. He is also survived by family members and friends.
