He was predeceased by: his parents, Ethel Smith and Ernest Smith; his siblings, Raymond Smith, Gwynneth Rice and Eleanor Parker; and his granddaughter Brooke Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Karen Ann Evans; his children, Charlene Smith (Ronald Haantjes), Carl Smith and Colleen Smith; his grandson Geoff Pleli; his great grandchildren, Keith and Blake; his brother-in-law Ronald Parker; his brother Ross Smith (Vicky); and his sisters-in-law, Dianne Telfer, Jane Kapel, Miriam McKenzie and Wendy Evans. He is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
