He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Meghan Smith; and his brother Michael Priest (Cathy). He is survived by: his wife Bonnie; his children, Laura Lafantaisie of Ottawa, Dan Priest (Christine) of Windsor, Allan Smith (Donna) of Fort Erie and David Smith (Neide) of Brazil; his grandchildren, Emily Smith of Fort Erie, Tyler Lafantaisie of Ottawa, Jasmyn Lafantaisie of Ottawa, John, Isabelle Smith of Brazil, Niamh and Colm Priest of Windsor; and his siblings, Chris Priest (Susan) and Susan Bonish (Dan).
