He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorian Stewart and Gertrude Stewart (Cassidy). He is survived by: his wife Catherine Stewart (McKeown); his sons, Matt Stewart of Edmonton, AB and Greg Stewart (Michelle) of Buckhorn, ON.; his grandchildren, Breanna Wasson, Kyle Stewart, Gavin Stewart and Jack Stewart; his great grandchild Royden Wasson; his siblings, Anne Stewart of Ottawa, ON, Brennan Stewart (Lynda) of Edmonton, AB, Brian Stewart (Rosemary) of Ridgeville, ON, Don Stewart (Judy) of Neustadt, ON and Beth Wallace of Ottawa, ON.; and also, Clarence, Gwen McKeown and Beverly Cazzola (Norm). He is also survived by several nephews and nieces.

If desired, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation (Dialysis) or the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
