He was predeceased by: his son Don Smith; his parents, Angus Smith and Dorothy Smith; and his siblings, Catherine Juno and Doug Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Doris; his children, Debbie Fournier (Mark), Ron Smith (Chris Biggar) and Barb Smith-Perrin (Layton); and his grandsons, Andrew Smith and Lucas Smith-Perrin.
