He was predeceased by: his wife Josephine Docherty; his parents, Joseph Docherty and Mary Anne Hanson; and his sisters, Isabelle Rice and Margaret Brasseur.

He is survived by: his daughter Wendy Docherty; his grandsons, Joshua (Victoria), Joseph and Tyler; his great grandchildren, Sophia and Selena; his sister May Gravelle; and his nephew Michael Gravelle.
