He was predeceased by: his sister Sandra Dewar. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Dewar; his daughters, Taryn Mushtaque and Kyla Dewar; his granddaughter Alina Mushtaque; and his siblings, Bonnie Wease, Bruce Dewar, Phoebe Dewar and Helen Butcher. He is also survived by his extended family including his in-laws and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug's name to the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, which provided exceptional care in his final days.
