He was predeceased by: his siblings, Helen Gorlinska (Józef), Leonia Melek and Włodzimierz Melek (Nina). He is survived by: his wife Olga Skalna; his children, Ewa Cottenden (John) and Bart Melek (Marina); his grandsons, Michael Cottenden (Jessica), Alexander Melek and Jake Melek; his great grandchild Amelia Cottenden; his siblings, Frank Melek (Lefteria) and Lucyna Barcova (Franto); and also Lukasz Melek.
