It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Smeltzer of Petawawa, Ontario, who passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

As Richard departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Richard may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Richard leaves behind.

He was predeceased by: his brothers, David (Lori), Terry (Carrolle) and Jeffrey Smeltzer; and his father Clayton Smeltzer. He is survived by: his spouse Beverley Smeltzer; his children, Shannon McGillivray (Andrew) and Emma Smeltzer (Joe Paquette); his granddaughter Olivia McGillivray; his siblings, John Smeltzer (Mary), Stephen Smeltzer (Julie) and Sandi Smeltzer; and his mother Joyce Smeltzer. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends.
