He was predeceased by: his son Kevin Schimmens; his grandchildren, Jared, Micah, Travis, Alex, Joshua and Amanda; his stepgrandchildren, Meredith, Elliott, Jennifer and Sarah; and also, Bradley and Christian.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Voeghtl; his children, Brigitta Ward (Lawrence) of Pembroke, Debra Anne Norwich (Steve) of Pembroke, Barry Schimmens (Lesley) of Pembroke and Bruce Schimmens (Stella); and his sisters, Ruth of Germany and Renate of Germany.
