He was predeceased by: his grandchild Shayne. He is survived by: his wife Gwenda; his sons, Rick (Laurie) and Jeff (Linda); his grandchildren, Brandon, Travis and Samantha "Sammy"; and his sister Anneliese. He is also survived by his other relatives and friends.

“Very sad to hear that Hans passed away. He had helped our family on many occasions since we arrived in Canada some 40 years ago. Thank you ! Three years ago I shared a room with a patient in a Munich, Germany hospital for a few days. "You are from Canada ?" Yes. "I inherited a farm on Lake Erie and I know a few Germans who live in Canada.
