He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian "Margaret" Thiel (Whiting); his parents, Hugh Thiel and Eva Thiel (Weber); his siblings, Dorothy and Glen Thiel; his son-in-law David Stark; his siblings-in-law, Dorothy Speers (Whiting), Donna Thiel (Turnbull), Emily McLachlan (Whiting), Jack McLachlan and Emerson Whiting; his cousin Marion (Datars); and his grandparents, Elizabeth (Siemon), George Thiel, Phoebe (Debus) and Charles Weber.
He is survived by: his children, Jo-Ann, Brad Boswell of La Mesa, CA, Carolyn Stark of Windsor, Randal and Karen Thiel of Parkhill; his grandchildren, Cynthia, Michael Castellucci, Jennifer, Patrick Spiteri, Tara, Brandon Desrochers, Derek and Cassandra Thiel; his great grandchildren, Mya, Max, Noah, Bryson, Ian, Raya, Kohan, Pryor and Jason; his close friend Mary Anne Norland; and his siblings-in-law, Margaret Whiting, Frank and Mary Speers. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, each person must RSVP to attend the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery or St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich.
