He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude (Yum) and Mary; and his brother Tom. He is survived by: his wife Heather (Gibson); his children, Jody Ruttan (Angie), Kim Ruttan, James Wight (Louise), Gene Wight (Kate) and Ken Wight (Becky); his grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan, Sarah, Cassidy, Anna, Cameron, Case and Carson; his siblings, Claudia Jungert and Marty Ruttan (Lynn); his sister-in-law Kathy; and his caregivers, Julia, Maria, Patty, Karen, Lori and Dianne. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stedman Hospice, Brantford Cancer Clinic, Lung Cancer Foundation.
