He was predeceased by: his wife Joe-Ann; his parents, David Earnest and Doris Earnest; and his brother Brad Earnest. He is survived by: his children, Shawn (Christa) and Chris; his grandchild Hayden; and his siblings, Shalvajean McAuley and Doug Earnest (Vicki).

As expressions of sympathy, donations in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
