He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Simkins and Edith Simkins; and his brother Baxter. He is survived by: his spouse Marliene; his children, Tammy Downs (Bruce Tannahill), Doug Simkins (Heather), Andrew Simkins (Jeanette), Joe Jenkins and Steve Jenkins; his grandchildren, Derek Downs (Kristina), Jennifer Stewart (Kyle), Cory McPhee (Sarah), Sara Turner (Josh), Justin Simkins (Madi), Candace Sprung, Brittany Sprung (Ben), Mary, Brenden and Jude; his siblings, Kemp (Carol) and Terry (Shirley); and his sibling-in-law Anne Simkins. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations to the Chapman House Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
