We are sad to announce that on November 1, 2023, at the age of 80, Valorie Preston (Ottawa, Ontario), born in Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Keith Alexander McPhadden and Mary Eliza Porter; her husband Bill Preston; her son Dent; her brothers, Hugh (Pat) and Ian (Gloria); her nieces and nephews, Derek, Dean, Jaclyn, Tara, Joel and Jillian; her friend Christine McAllister; her close friend Todd Cain; and also Margaret (Pat).

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Y's Owl MacClure Cooperative Centre , the Saskatchewan Abilities Council or a women's shelter of your choice (or send top notch gravy). “Valerie Preston was my friend. She was also my High School English teacher at Scott Collegiate. As a teacher, she introduced me to Margaret Laurence, TS Eliott and ee cummings. As a friend, she was an encouraging, engaging and caring part of my life. I have a glisse of one of her paintings. It has been at least 15 years since I last saw her, although we did have a few contacts after that. I loved her as a friend for decades. Rest in peace, Val. And thank you. Linda Watson”
