She was predeceased by: her spouse Christopher Gay; her parent Elwood Thomas Maheral; and her parent-in-law Aubrey Matheson Gay. She is survived by: her children, Andrea Elizabeth (Shane Farley) and Peter Matheson; her parent Mary Inez Maheral; her siblings, Allan, Bruce (Rachel), Ken (Suzanne), Glen (Aline), Wayne (Patricia) and Connie (Claude Graziadei); and her parent-in-law Helen Louise Roberta (Emmerson).
A memorial service will be held in the Chapel on Friday, April 6th, 2018, at 10am In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested that memorial donations be made to Victoria's Quilts Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society.
