He was predeceased by: his spouse Terry Scharf; his parents, William George and Helen Mildred Scharf; and his siblings, William Robert (late Eileen) and Barbara Gillespie (late Charles).

He is survived by: his daughters, Sandra Scharf of Ottawa and Charlene Scharf-Lafleur (Ralph) of Danford Lake; his grandchildren, John (Tara) of Ottawa, Jordan (Annie) of Kazabazua, Justin (Brandie) of Cyrpess and Joey of Danford Lake; his great grandchildren, Corban, Connor and Emylia; his sibling-in-law Rhona DeOliviera (Ramiro) of Orleans; his nieces and nephews, Judy Huneault (Edgar) of Cumberland, Lesley Foley (Jim) of Ottawa and Rodney Scharf (Christy) of Ottawa; and his close friend Terry Boisvenue.

As expressions of sympathy donations in Ray's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Arthritis Society.
