He is survived by: his wife Janice; his children, Claire and Sarina; his parents-in-law, Maria Wiebenga, Rebecca, Brock Cober, Marjie Wiebenga and Darryl Klassen; his stepsister Valerie Lizotte; his nieces and nephews, Cole, Tanner, Owen, Kate, Luke and Jensen; and his cousins, Marthe Perreault, Jean-Yves Perreault and Martin Perreault. He is also survived by aunts, uncles.

As expressions of sympathy, donations in memory of Nelson to Project Trauma Support would be appreciated.
