She was predeceased by: her husband Charles; her sister Mildred Bouliane; and her parents, Otto Toivonen and Mary Toivonen (Allen). She is survived by: her son John; her children-in-law, Janet Duncan, Kelley Castle and Klaus Ristanovic; and her grandsons, Jack and William Duncan.

In 2017, she moved to be with her son John's family in Toronto, and in 2020, at the start of the pandemic, she moved to New Hamburg to live with her daughter Janet.
