He was predeceased by: his wife Ann (Franklin); his parents, William Mathews and Germaine Mathews; and his siblings, Mary and Bill.

He is survived by: his children, David (Jo-ann) and Leann (Derrick Edwards); his grandchildren, Samantha (Peter Alves), Jackelyn, Katrina, Jennifer (Nick Cousins) and Joshua (Jazmine Jewitt); his stepgrandson Brandon Edwards; his great grandchildren, Nathanial, Mathew, Lucas, Zackery, Travis, Harper and Wrenly; his sibling Gayle (Ray Cormier); and his sibling-in-law Pegi Flood (Brian Robinson).

In memoriam, donations appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Soceity.
