Karl Diedrich Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karl Diedrich (Ottawa, Ontario), who passed away on May 9, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Otto and Christina; his siblings, Otto, Robert, Paula, Hildegarde, Elisabeth, Margareta, Anneliese and Ingeborg; and his brother-in-law Robert France (Bob).

He is survived by: his spouse Jean Marie; his children, Peter (Anne), Susan, Michael (Cheryl) and Christopher (Leahanne); and his grandchildren, Tyler, Jake, Katie, Cameron, Bron and Renée. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“So sorry to hear of Karl's passing. He helped me immensely when I first joined the Chemistry Department at Carleton. He was entirely unselfish and helped hundreds of students and faculty. It was a great honour to be able to attend the Convocation at which he received his honorary MSc. He enjoyed playing golf as a hobby and we had many fun days on the links. We also shared an interest in gardening and had plots back in the 70's. Karl loved a joke and had a wonderful sense of humour.”
