He is survived by: his spouse Eileen; his children, Randy (Chantal), Susan (Matt), Sandy, Shelley, Robbie and Sharon; his stepchildren, Mark Liston (Kim) and Jeff Liston; his grandchildren, Matt (Tessa), Sarah, Jessica, Jackson (Lisa), Mackenzie (Zoë), Scott (Leah), Peter, Taylor, Grace, Kasey-Leigh (Yves) and Kyle; his great grandchildren, Émilie, Theo and Noé; his sibling Shirley Spour; and his parent Fred King.

Memorial donations may be made in John's name to La maison Mathieu-Froment-Savoie, the Ottawa Heart Institute and the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus.
