He was predeceased by: his brothers, Jim and Claude; and his siblings-in-law, Deborah, Susan and Doug Pratt.
He is survived by: his wife Emily Elizabeth Bennett; his sons, Peter (Beverley Anderson), Paul (Joanne) of Ottawa and Daniel (Janice) of Kelowna; his grandchildren, Katie, Madeline, Ryan and Joel; his godchild Shelly Ball; his daughter-in-law Karen Bennett; his siblings, Ann Pratt of London Ontario, Charles Bennett (Bev) of Peggy's Cove, NS, Thom Bennett and George Bennett (Marnie); his siblings-in-law, Barbara Bennett of Kingston and Don McCallan (Joe-Ellen); and his friend Beth. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends.
John was recognized for his many contributions to the Canadian Red Cross by receiving the Order of the Red Cross in 1996.
