He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret (Marg) Kavanagh; and his parents, John Kavanagh and Alice Dobush. He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Kavanagh Moke (Edward Moke) and Karen Kavanagh (Dean Manning) of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Gramp, Robyn, Sydney and Madison; and his brothers, Tom Kavanagh (Vicki) of Kelowna and Bob Kavanagh (Ursula) of Montréal. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
John did have many charitable pursuits including donating his time to provide tax filing support for immigrants and others in need (at the Nepean Rideau Osgoode Community resource Centre), and volunteering at The Ottawa Mission.
