He was predeceased by: his parents, Captain Kenneth Powell and Elinor Powell; and his brother Barry. He is survived by: his wife Sheila Powell; his children, Brent (Kelly), Barry (Amanda), Blair and Bruce; and his sisters, Pat and Christine.

In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I think that the last time that I saw Jim was during the U-18 provincial finals back in the spring of 2018. He made a profound contribution to minor hockey in the Ottawa, a legacy that you all can be proud of. Our thoughts and prayers at with you at this time. Philip and Diane Jago and family.”
