He was predeceased by: his parents, Donat Lapensée and Grace Rushford; and his spouse Aline Lapensée. He is survived by: his children, Diane, Gerry, Joanne (Marc Sabourin), Daniel (Carole Dorion) and Nicole (Jean Lambert); his grandchildren, Steven, Leslie, Nicholas, Natasha, Christine, Kevin, Joey, Amanda, Justin, Jessica, Brianna, Patrice and Tina; and his siblings, June, Gérald and Rolland.

In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Gerry, the family has requested that attendees may offer plush teddy bears, which in turn will be donated to the children's hospital, CHEO.
