She was predeceased by: her husband John; her brother Stewart (Watson); her son-in-law Ron (Mader); and her parents, Marion (Doane) and Norman (Watson).

She is survived by: her children, Norma, Halifax N. S. and Robert (Karen); her grandchildren, Sarah Linney, Elizabeth Mader (David Wrighton), Charles Mader (Deanne), Theresa Ayre (Tom) and Patricia Mader; her stepgrandchildren, Kimberley Thibeault, Kyle Lisacek, Lea Lisacek and Tyler Lisacek; and her great grandchildren, Elliott, Evelyn Mader and McCrae Ayre.

“In the late '80's I was a newly minted engineer and member of Calgary's BPWC. I was in awe of Elinor's accomplishments and the path she chartered for women in engineering and business. I remember working together on a couple of papers/projects but more importantly remember her last visit to my home, to drop off a gift of coin sets for my twin daughters, who were barely a month old. She was on her way to Ottawa and we were her last stop. She is remembered fondly. My most sincere condolences.”
