He was predeceased by: his children, Linda Martel (Bob) and Gary Hughes; his grandchildren, Christine, David (Meaghan), Brent (Alicia), Lisa (Shawn), Derek (Megan), Nicole (Nathan), Jeffrey, Skylar, Phillip and Mitchel; his great grandchildren, Owen, Emery, Josie and Quinton; his parent Bernard Hughes; and his sibling Helen Lamothe (Denis).

He is survived by: his spouse Denise (Smith); his children, Diane Hammond (Stephen), Michael Hughes (Theresa), Alan Hughes (Lisa) and Brenda MacIntosh (Dave); his parent Helen Hughes; his sibling Elsie Robert (Don); and his brother-in-law Des Smith (Nancy). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Ruddy Shenkman Hospice in recognition of their compassionate care.
