He was predeceased by: his wife Olga Lorraine (Nee Lavigne); his parents, Ellen Hughes and Leo Hughes; and his siblings, Adere Forrester, Frank Hughes, Dorothea Hughes and Kelvin Hughes.

He is survived by: his children, Deborah Hughes, David Hughes (Ann) and Mark Hughes (Tara); and his granddaughter Katie Hughes.
