Alexandra Yarrow wrote a sympathy message

“Hi Silcoff family, I had the great pleasure of working with Brian at the library for a number of years leading up to his retirement. I will never forget his wonderful stories about items in the Ottawa Room, and about local history - which he made come alive! He was a passionate, generous, knowledgeable colleague. I think of him every time I pass the Ottawa Room, and he is missed.”

“Dear Sean, Erin, Clara, Ben and Jack, We are so sorry to hear of Sean's dad's passing. We keep fond memories of the times we spent with your dad/grandfather at Sean and Erin's in Montreal. We remember his enthusiasm (a lot like Sean's!) and appreciation of being among friends and family. As a former Blue Skies attendee, we will be making a donation to the festival in his memory. Love to you all, Mick and Hannah”

“My deepest sympathies to Janette and the Silcoff family. Brian’s love of reading, books and research lasted throughout his many careers. We always enjoyed his stories and sense of humour. Ed and I always looked forward to their annual Hanukkah/Christmas party - his latkes were the best I've ever eaten! Our thoughts are with you as you mourn his passing. Elaine and Ed”

Anne Woolley wrote a sympathy message

“Condolences and heartfelt sympathy to Janette Hamilton-Silcoff and the entire Silcoff family at this most difficult time. Brian was and is loved by so many for a multitude of reasons, not the least were his impeccable sense of humour and ability to tell a mesmerising, comical story like no other. He is tremendously missed already and will forever be remembered fondly by all that knew him. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Anne Woolley and family (Bangs/Alletson/Gwozdecky)”
