He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Douglas Cairns of Pembroke and Janet Munroe Cairns of Pembroke; and his significant other Vyrlene Manuel. He is survived by: his children, Cynthia MacMillan (Randall) and Hugh Cairns (Julie); and his grandchildren, Scott, Jeffrey, Rachel, Ashley, Gracie and Hunter. He is also survived by several cousins, and friends.

For those who would like to honour his memory, donations to the Shriner's Hospital would be appreciated.
