He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Whitney and Orma Whitney; and his sisters, Isobel Thompson (Robert) and Mary Barbara Johnson (Len). He is survived by: his wife Irene Whitney; his children, Marty (Karen), Murray (Patricia), Anne Locke (Karl) and Ellen Whitney; his grandchildren, John (Sabrina), Jacob (Anna), Jared Whitney, Whitney (Nick) and Devon Locke; his nieces, Dorthea Hangaard and Jane Thompson; and his nephew Robert Thompson.
