She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Mercey and Ellen (Holden); her husband John Dekruyf; her siblings, Janet Ottman (Royal Ottman) and Doug Mercey (Pat Mercey); and her daughter Lori Woodford (John Woodford).

She is survived by: her daughter Dr. Lisa Dayus (Brian Dayus); her grandchildren, James (Danielle), Jonathan (Sarah), Sarah Dayus (Anne-Marie), Lianne (Natasha) and Kelly Woodford (Shawn); and her great grandchildren, Lucy, Adrian, Everett and Mackenzie.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Andrew's, honouring Joan's lifelong commitment to the church.
