She was predeceased by: the father of her children Alexander Hardy Courtney; her husband Kenneth Horrell; and her friends, Joan and Everett Johnstone. She is survived by: her cousins, Heather Campbell (Jim) and Carolyn Pennock.
Although she never lost her sight, Bernice's diagnosis and years-long management of macular degeneration inspired a heightened appreciation of Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, and they became her charity of choice. Donations in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
