Clifford Lincoln wrote a sympathy message

“I had the privilege to serve at the same time as Paul at the House of Commons. He was a trusted colleague and ever-genuine friend. I admired his unfailing dedication to the causes in which he believed so convincingly. I recall his deep interest in the issue of stem cells and stem cell research.. in which he had become especially knowledgeable, He had written a booklet to share his knowledge of the issue to those of us, and beyond, unfamiliar with it. He was a true gentleman. My condolences.”

Roy John Cullen wrote a sympathy message

“Paul was a fine human being, and a credit to his calling as a Member of Parliament - a hard-working, and straight-shooting person who was equally adept at parliamentary procedure and public policy-making. Paul was thoughtful and conscientious, and someone to go to for advice on a thorny problem. Alex Shepherd, Paul, and I would sometimes tell our colleagues, somewhat facetiously, that the House of Commons needed more C.P.A.'s like the three of us! Condolences to Linda & family. Roy Cullen”

“My heartfelt sympathies to the Szabo family during this difficult time. Although not from the same party, it was a privilege to work collegially with Paul on both cross-party initiatives and on the House of Commons Ethics Committee which he Chaired during a time of high-profile issues. As a friend to all, he will be missed.”

“Paul was notably kind to me when I was first elected in 2008. Despite us being from different parties he was very encouraging and often talked to me about my speeches in the House. I appreciated these gestures from him, especially in an environment that does not encourage cross partisan relationships very well, and I’m grateful to him for that, to this day. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.”
