She was predeceased by: her parents, Madge Johnson and George Abbott. She is survived by: her spouse Kasimir "Kash" Leonard Charabin; her children, Geoff (Carmen), Alison (Bruce) and Jennifer (Cam); and her grandsons, Kasimir and Henry.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home Inc. (64 Lakeshore Rd W, Oakville, ON L6K1E1). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the same location. Joan had been living at Burloak Long Term Care for the past few years and has made it through Covid isolation in no small part due to the constant, loving, attention of her husband.

Kash and Joan have supported many charities over the years, so in lieu of flowers, those so inclined are encouraged to donate any amount to the charity of their choice.
