He was predeceased by: his significant other Ena J. P. Smith; his parents, Agnes Smith and Harry Smith; his brother Russell Smith (Helen); and his grandchildren, Tadhg, Kate, Abbie, Stuart, Catriona, Sarah and Claire.

He is survived by: his sister Mary Smith (David); and his close friend Aimée Roger (Frank). He is also survived by his extended family and many good friends.
