He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Dennis (Joyce), Rob (Marlies), Brian (Heidi), Melissa (Derek) and Emily (Adam); his grandchildren, Drew (Leah), Dylan (Katelyn), Damon Kleen, Karen, Sam, Sym, Roger, Meghan, Krista Kleen, Gillian, Erica, Malin Kleen, Kurtis (Emily), Kendra, Benjamin, Clayton DeHaan, Madison and Carter Crandall; his siblings, Hillie Lefers (Hendrik-Jan), Hennie, Karla Vanderwoude (Jan) and Dik (Hennie); his sister-in-law Roelie Kleen; his son-in-law Theo DeHaan (Hannah); and his siblings-in-law, Cees, Willie Nieuwenhuis, Henk, Netty Nieuwenhuis, Larry, Gerda Nieuwenhuis, Nick, Wilma Nieuwenhuis, Lies, Teunis Vaandering, Ria and Klaas Lindeboom.
