He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Menzies and Mary Menzies; and his siblings, Margaret "Peg" Andrew (late George) and Robert "Bob" (late Marion). He is survived by: his wife Retta; his children, John "Scott" (Lynn Lockhart-Menzies), Jeffery and Catherine (John Boule); his great grandchildren, Charlotte and Maxwell; his brother Doug (Karen); and his siblings-in-law, Gerald Tinslay (late Beverley) and Ruth (John Cole).
