He was predeceased by: his wife Wendy Byres; his parents, Wayne Sampson and Wilma Sampson; and his stepfather Albert. He is survived by: his children, Mellisa Ward (Michael) and Steven Sampson (Stephanie); his grandchildren, Kairi, Jeremy, Rosalie, Abigail, Violet, Benjamin and Oliver; and his siblings, Janet, John (Sue), June and Nancy (Jason).
