He was predeceased by: his siblings, Rev. John Buis, Cees Buis (Riek), Gerry Buis, Joseph Buis and Corrie Bakker (Jan); and his brother-in-law Ted Ruiter.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Peter, Janine (Joe Macies) and Kevin (Jacqueline Oscvirk); his grandchildren, Dalton Thomson (Celina), Morgan Buis, Lexi Buis, Christopher Macies (Matthew LeBaron), Jasmine Macies (Austin Siegfried), Rebecca Macies, Keelan Buis, Aidan Buis, Dr. Erica Dowling (Steven), Dr. Alicia Mattia (Dan Segal), John Mattia (Alicia), Elliott, Violet, Madison, Gray, Sam, Lev, Mackenzie, David and Isla; his siblings, Trudy Ruiter, Vera DeLaat (John) and Adrian Buis (Connie); and his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Buis-Gardin (Gino Gardin) and MaryLou Scholl. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
